Senator Buck Newton is a country lawyer and a strong conservative leader currently serving in the North Carolina Senate. First elected in 2010, he was part of the historic Republican wave that flipped the NC Senate red for the first time in 140 years.
 
In 2016, he was the Republican nominee for Attorney General, running on a platform of law and order. In the State Senate, Buck has chaired the Judiciary Committee and has been a steadfast advocate for strengthening North Carolina’s criminal justice system, protecting constitutional rights, and fostering a pro-business economy.
 
As a State Senator, Buck is committed to:

✅ Protecting the unborn
✅ Defending Second Amendment rights
✅ Supporting law enforcement against radical defunding efforts
✅ Cutting taxes for hard-working families and small businesses
 
A native of Wilson, Buck graduated from Hunt High School before earning a degree in Political Science from Appalachian State University. He later received his law degree from Campbell University and has practiced law at his firm, Newton and Lee, for over 20 years.

A devoted member of First United Methodist Church, Buck has served his community through various ministries. He and his wife, Hope, are proud parents of three children.
